COVID-19 Update for the Primary Care Provider  - CME 

Purpose:

The purpose of this activity is to provide an update on COVID-19 diagnosis and management for the primary care provider at Parkview Health.

 

Instructions:

Please watch the video. You will be required to complete the post-test, commitment to change, and credit attestation to receive CME credit. A post-test score of 80% will be required to claim credit. This activity will be accessible until 2/28/2022.

 

Objectives:

  • By the end of the event, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the prevalence of influenza in our area

  • Describe the prevalence of COVID-19 in our area, what the prediction models say, and what areas are sending the most patients to Parkview Health

  • Explain which patient populations are more likely to require admission for COVID-19

  • Identify alternative differential diagnoses to influenza and COVID-19 in our current healthcare climate

  • Differentiate between the different COVID-19 testing options and examine benefits and limitations of each option

  • Distinguish the preferred monoclonal antibody treatment and discuss outpatient treatment options for COVID-19 in the omicron era

  • Develop an outpatient treatment recommendation plan including home care instructions for the COVID-19 patient

Primary Care Providers

Professional Practice Gap:

The recommendations for primary care providers in diagnosing and managing COVID-19 are quickly changing and many providers are not aware of the most up to date information.

Educational Need:

Lack of knowledge with current best practice in COVID-19 care in the outpatient setting.
